Ricardo Maya is a contemporary Cuban artist based in Granada, Nicaragua. He works in acrylic and watercolor and is known for his distinctive style characterized by bold, contrasting lines and a vibrant, intense palette. Maya began his artistic journey as a self-taught artist. His passion for the craft led him to a striking encounter with teacher Elsa Castro in the city of Villa Clara. Under her guidance, Maya honed his skills and acquired essential concepts in drawing and painting, laying the foundation for his artistic prowess. He then studied for a degree in art and expanded his vision of the creative process in Havana. Today, Ricardo Maya's artwork reflects a fusion of self-discovery and formal improvisation, creating a visual language that captivates audiences with its powerful lines and vivid colors. His artistic endeavors continue to evolve, leaving a mark on the vibrant artistic landscape of Granada, Nicaragua, which he calls home.
