Geertjan Plooijer was born in 1957 in Utrecht and is a landscape and art photographer. His parents photographed and filmed. On his 12th birthday, he got his first camera and started taking pictures, spending a lot of time in his parents’ darkroom. After military service, he studied photography in London and obtained his degree in photography there. His photography of landscapes and art is influenced by Edward Weston, Man Ray and Izis. After having a photo studio in Amsterdam and Friesland for a number of years, he moved to Mörlunda in Sweden where he still lives and works as a photographer and artist. About 65% of his work is done with large-format cameras and film. His works are included in various collections at home and abroad.
